Email to Votes At 16 (British Youth Council):

From: natasha minto [1] Sent: 14 April 2011 21:59 To: votesat16 Subject:

Dear sir/madam,

My name is Natasha Minto, I am 20 years of age, and am currently a first year university student studying a degree in media at Middlesex University. As part of my course I have formed a group at uni to carry out a campaign on the importance of voting. We will be holding a talk to our target audience (young people aged 16 to 20 years old) at a youth organisation called Exposure, located in muswell Hill, haringey. It will be next Thursday at 1pm and I was wondering if it would be at all possible for someone from Votes At 16 to talk to some of the young people at Exposure during that time, if available?

What will be discussed is why voting is important, how to register to vote and any other facts, and statistics on voters within the UK. We have a number of leaflets to hand out, along with flyers and free cakes to make the event more interesting for the young people. It would greatly enhance my group's success in our campaign. Both I and my group would be very grateful if someone could let me know if this will be at all possible, and if so, I will fill you in on more of the details. Many thanks

Hi Natasha,

Thanks for getting in touch.

I would be happy to attend your event at Exposure. It would be great if you could let me know how long you would like me to speak, their address, and provide me with a contact number for the day.

If you want to chat this over I’m on 020 7332 2647.

Best wishes,

Response from the guest speaker after the event:

Hi Natasha,

It was great to meet you and the others last Thursday.

Let me know if there’s any way we can promote your campaign and it would be great if I could link to an article that you or Exposure produce on votes at 16.

Best wishes,

Helen
